10 BJP MLAs suspended for ‘indecent conduct’ in the House. Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: 10 BJP MLAs, including four ex-ministers, suspended by UT Speaker Khadar The assembly was prorogued on Wednesday for the remainder of the ongoing monsoon session over “indecent and disrespectful conduct”, reports Anil Gajji.
The current session of the assembly ends on July 21.
The suspended MLAs include former deputy CMs R Ashoka and CN Ashwath Narayana, former ministers Araga Jnanendra and V Sunilkumar, and MLAs Aravind Bellad, Bharat ShettyVedavyas Kamat, Yashpal Suvarna, Umanath Kotian and Dhiraj Muniraju.
The legislators tore copies of the bill and agenda and threw them at Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani, who was presiding over the proceedings. Meanwhile, the BJP and JD(S) have decided to move a no-confidence motion against the speaker and approach the governor on Thursday.
The legislators were led by former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP and HD Kumaraswamy (JDS), protested in front of the Speaker’s office and at the entrance Vidhana SoudhaThey termed the speaker’s decision as “illegal” and “murder of democracy” before being taken into custody by the police.
In the uproar during the protest, senior BJP member Basangouda Patil Yatnal suddenly fainted and had to be hospitalised. BJP MLA Ashwath Narayan later said, “He is stable and doing well.”
Earlier, the opposition BJP and JD(S) protested in the assembly against the Congress government for allegedly “misusing” state IAS officers for an anti-BJP opposition convention in Bengaluru on Monday and Tuesday.
Angered by the Speaker’s decision to continue with the proceedings of the House, BJP MLAs stormed the Well and tore copies of the bill and agenda and threw them at Deputy Speaker Lamani. “How can you allow business to continue when the house is not in order?” The legislators asked questions to the speaker.
As the ruckus continued, the speaker called marshals to evict the BJP MLAs. When some of them tried to resist the marshals, they were overpowered and literally thrown out, after which the other suspended legislators left the house.
Announcing his suspension order, Speaker UT Khadar said it was a difficult decision for him. “This suspension was inevitable to preserve the dignity of the House, the Speaker and the people (of the state). And the message has to be given to the legislators that they cannot get away with such behaviour,” he said.
Khadar said, “If you all continue with your unruly behavior, I will not hesitate to take an even harsher decision.”
Reacting to the Speaker’s decision, Bommai said, “It is a black day. [Karnataka’s] History.
Congress is behaving like a government Hitler And misusing the office of the Speaker to suspend opposition MLAs.” Bommai also criticized Khader for calling him a puppet in the hands of the government.
‘BJP is brimming with jealousy’
Condemning the act of BJP MLAs inside the Assembly, CM Siddaramaiah said they have become restless and jealous after his government successfully implemented the Congress party’s five electoral guarantees.
They are not able to digest the fact that our government has fulfilled all the five guarantees and people are happy with us. that’s why they [BJP] Siddaramaiah alleged, “To divert the attention of the people, they are behaving uncivilized and indecent.”
He defended the government’s decision to depute a deputy-IAS officer to receive leaders of anti-BJP opposition parties for a two-day meeting in Bengaluru. He said that the visiting opposition party officials are guests of the state and such behavior is part of the protocol.
