Punjab Police arrested 540 more leaders and members of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e, in cases registered against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act across the province for carrying out attacks on Corps Commander House, public and private buildings in Lahore . Insaaf (PTI) on Friday Dawn reported,

Since May 9, the Punjab Police has registered 205 cases against party functionaries and workers across the province.

There was a minor scuffle between the police officers and PTI employees on Thursday night. Police raided PTI’s office on Jail Road and arrested party members listed as suspects in cases registered at several police stations, Dawn reported.

Party members reportedly threw stones at police but retreated when more officers were requested to assist.

Police presence was beefed up around his Zaman Park mansion on Friday evening, following reports that a large number of workers were gathering there to welcome PTI chairman Imran Khan following court relief.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Punjab Police Chief Dr Usman Anwar said that the criminals responsible for attacks on police teams, critical infrastructure and both public and private property do not deserve mercy.

“These miscreants are being identified through CCTV footage, video recordings and social media posts,” he said, according to Dawn. The Punjab Police said that after Friday’s arrest, the number of detained leaders and supporters has risen to 2,790.
