Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan:
At least seven teachers were killed in Thursday’s shooting at a school in northwestern Pakistan, Geo TV reported, after another teacher was shot dead in a previous attack.
Local television channels said both the incidents took place on Thursday in the Parachinar area of Kurram tribal district near the border with Afghanistan.
It said the motive behind the killings was unclear, and that the teachers killed in both incidents belonged to the country’s Shia Muslim minority.
The tribal district has a majority Shia population, which are frequently attacked by Sunni militant groups as part of the local Taliban movement.
Local police said they were gathering more information and investigating the incident.
