VIJAYAWADA: A 26-year-old tribal youth was thrashed and urinated in his mouth by nine people, including three teenagers, in Ongole town. The accused, who were allegedly drunk, called the victim to a secluded place, attacked him with sticks and stones and forced the youth to keep his mouth open and urinated in his mouth. One of the teenagers recorded the incident and circulated it among his friends.
Though the act took place on June 19, it came to light on Wednesday after the video went viral on social media, triggering outrage and police registering a case against the accused under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
A special team has been formed to nab them. The arrested accused were produced in the court, from where they were sent to judicial custody.
Superintendent of Police of Prakasam District Mallika Garg Said that the nine accused and the tribal youth were childhood friends and were involved in property related crimes. The victim had allegedly eloped with the ex-girlfriend of one of the accused. There were ‘disturbing letters’ against some people, including the victim, who was accused of 28 property offences.
