The Wayanad district administration in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department and Akshay Kendras launched the ‘A for Aadhaar’ campaign in the district on Wednesday.

The program envisages ensuring Aadhaar cards for all children below the age of five in the new academic year.

Inaugurating the program, District Collector Renu Raj said that since the document was necessary to enroll children in schools and enable them to receive incentives from the government, all parents should make use of this opportunity.

A mega camp was organized at 110 enrollment centers on Wednesday, and over 6,000 children below the age of five attended the camps along with their parents.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Tribal Development Department and local bodies.

Parents can bring their children to the camp along with their Aadhaar card and birth certificate of the children.

The program will conclude on Thursday.
