The Kerala Story is on its way to become a huge success. how are you feeling?
Despite not being from a film family, the love I have received from one and all is phenomenal. The whole country is supporting me. I am humbled and shocked. How small were the dreams I had for myself. All these are the dreams of my loved ones which are coming true for me.
director Sudipto Senthe creator Vipul Shah And you faced fierce opposition for the release of the film. How did you deal with the crisis?
The awareness that the film has created will save the lives of so many girls. The support we have received is huge. I am feeling grateful.
The film addresses a very sensitive and disturbing issue of Islamic conversion. Did you have any objection to accepting such a controversial topic?
Right from the beginning, the first day I was narrated the story, for me the process of reading it and shooting the film was always about a naive girl who gets entangled in life Isis collusion. Terrorism is dangerous. But someone had to tell this story.
How intimidated were you by playing the character?
play Shalini Unnikrishnan Scared me physically and emotionally. These are the marks deep down in my soul. Wounds that will not heal for a lifetime.
What is your advice to young impressionable girls who are caught in the trouble of conversion?
In any situation in life, where you have to make any decision big or small, think twice as a young girl, consult your elders.
The Kerala Story is probably going to be the biggest hit of your career. How are you celebrating?
It gives me fulfillment to know that The Kerala Story is going to change the course of many lives, to know that we are the voice of many untold stories. That’s my celebration.
Till now Hindi cinema has not done justice to your talent. Do you feel your time inside? Bollywood begins now?
Everything is by the grace of the almighty! Yet, it is only when the Divine chooses that His flood of grace descends upon select individuals in the form of blessings and specific instructions.
