After Twitter, Blue Ticks For Gmail Accounts: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

Announcing via a Vertical blog post, Google Said, “In 2021, we introduced Brand Indicator for Message Identification (BIMI) in Gmail, a feature that requires senders to display a brand logo as an avatar in email using strong authentication and to identify their brand.” Logos need to be verified.”

“Based on that feature, users will now see a checkmark icon for senders who have adopted BIMI. This will help users identify messages from legitimate senders versus impersonators.”

Why Are Gmail Blue Check Marks Important?

Google says the blue check mark will help users and email security systems identify and stop spam. It will also enable senders to leverage their brand trust.

“This increases trust in email sources and provides a better experience for readers, creating a better email ecosystem for everyone,” Google said in a blog post.

Who is eligible?

The blue checkmark is available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers, as well as personal Google Accounts. This facility has started for end users from 3rd May.

How to get Blue Check for Gmail Account?

Brand Indicators for Message Identification or BIMI is an emerging email specification that enables the use of brand-controlled logos within supported email clients. BIMI leverages the work an organization has done in implementing DMARC security by bringing a brand logo to a customer’s inbox.

To get the verification mark, one needs to get their logo verified on BIMI. To do this, set up your account on BIMI using domain information. Next, upload your brand logo and register it as a trademark. Now you can apply for Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) to get the blue check mark for your brand logo on Gmail.
