Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wants to make Alexa the ‘world’s best personal assistant’, here’s how – Times of India

The race to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into consumer-centric products and services has intensified. CEO of Amazon Andy Jassy has revealed some of the company’s plans to make virtual personal assistant Alexa the ‘best personal assistant in the world’.
talking about investing in Amazon Web Services (AWS) during its 2023 Q1 earnings call, Jesse highlighted that the company will continue to invest in AI across cloud computing services.
“Our recent announcement on Large Language Model (LLM) and Generative AI and their associated chips and managed services is another recent example,” he added.

Earlier this month, AWS rolled out the Bedrock Service for Generative AI service in limited preview. Through Bedrock, AWS will offer access to its own first-party language models called Titan, one of which can generate text for blog posts, emails or other documents.
He also said that it takes billions of dollars to train really good LL.M.
Alexa is the starting point for investing in AI
Jassi said that the LLM “accelerates the possibility of building his [Alexa] The best personal assistant in the world.
“I find that when people often ask us about Alexa, what we often share is that if we were just making a smart speaker, it would be a very small investment. But we have a vision. , Which we’re sure we want to build the world’s best personal assistant. And that’s hard to do,” he said.

Jassi said the company has a large language model underpinned by Alexa technology, but the company is building a model that is much larger and more generalized and capable.
“And I think we start from a very good place with Alexa because we have a couple hundred million endpoints for entertainment and shopping and smart home and information and a lot of involvement from third-party ecosystem partners, said the CEO.
“And I think it’s really going to accelerate our vision of becoming the world’s best personal assistant. I think there’s an important business model underneath,” he said.
