There was a lapse in the security of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 21 July (Friday). A person named Noor Alam was trying to enter Mamta’s house in Kalighat with a car. The police arrested him.
A gun, a knife and marijuana have been recovered from the car of the apprehended person. Mamta Banerjee was present at the house at the time of the incident.
Police sticker was put on the accused’s car
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal said that the car of the accused had a police sticker. Several ID cards of BSF and other agencies were also found with him. The accused said that he had come to meet the CM.
The commissioner said, ‘The accused was talking nonsense. This is a serious issue. We are trying to find out the real motive of the accused. His vehicle has also been seized.
Mamta was about to go to Martyr’s Day program
Shortly after the incident, Mamta Banerjee was about to go to participate in the Martyr’s Day program. Thousands of TMC workers from across the state have reached Kolkata to attend the event.
It is estimated that more than one lakh people will participate in the Martyr’s Day program.
The event is celebrated in the memory of 13 Congress supporters who lost their lives in police firing in 1993. At that time there was a Left government in the state and Mamta was the president of the State Youth Congress. Even after forming her party Trinamool Congress, Mamta celebrates Martyr’s Day in the memory of the slain Congress workers.
Mamta Banerjee also met the families of Congress workers who lost their lives in 1993 on July 21.
