Axiom Mission 2 crew heading back to Earth in SpaceX Dragon spacecraft

The four-member private astronaut crew is all set to return to Earth after spending a week in orbit. Astronauts who were part of the Axiom Mission 2 (X-2) are on their way back home from the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

The spacecraft is scheduled to splash down Tuesday at about 11:00 a.m. EDT off the coast of Tampa, Florida.

“The axiom mission 2 The crew heads home aboard @SpaceX’s Dragon Freedom spacecraft after completing the second all-private astronaut mission to the @Space_Station. #Ax2 undocking is scheduled for 11:05am ET (1505 UTC),” NASA said in a tweet sharing a video of the astronauts.

Commander Peggy Whitson, Pilot John Shoffner, and Mission Specialists Ali Alkarni and Rayyana Barnawi are part of the crew of the Axiom Mission 2 (X-2). In addition to the astronauts, the SpaceX Dragon Freedom spacecraft is expected to bring more than 300 pounds of cargo, which will include hardware for NASA and other details from several experiments.

Axiom Station: The world’s first commercial space station

axiom mission 2 (X-2) is a private space mission to expand access to the International Space Station (ISS) and low-Earth orbit. The objective of the mission is to build and operate the Axiom Station, the world’s first commercial space station.

According to the Axiom mission website, “Aboard the orbiting laboratory, a four-person, multinational team will conduct extensive research, test new technologies, and engage with a worldwide audience as champions of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. ” 2 (axis-2) said.

Streaming of Re-Entry and Splashdown:

The re-entry and splashdown of Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) will be streamed live on Axiom Space and the SpaceX website. All updates about the mission will be available on both the websites.
