The Rajasthan High Court in March this year acquitted four accused, who were sentenced to death by a trial court in 2019, on the grounds of shoddy investigation. The fifth accused was acquitted by the trial court in 2019.

“The accused were acquitted due to weak prosecution. Those who should have been given death penalty were acquitted due to poor investigation and poor prosecution by the Congress government. BJP stands with the families of the victims,” ​​state BJP president CP Joshi said at a dharna in Hawa Mahal area.

Another party leader said the BJP has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court on behalf of two family members of the blast victims against the Rajasthan High Court verdict.

Rajasthan’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas termed the dharnas as a ‘drama’ and said even after 15 years of the blasts, BJP leaders were shedding ‘crocodile tears’.

He said that the BJP had to face a humiliating defeat in the elections. Karnataka Because she wanted to win the election with Congress in the name of Bajrang Bali.

In December 2019, a trial court awarded death sentence to Mohd Sarwar Azmi, Mohd Saif, Mohd Salman and Saifur Rehman. It acquitted Shahbaz Hussain by giving him the benefit of doubt.

The four death row convicts challenged the trial court’s order in the Rajasthan High Court and a division bench acquitted them on March 29. It also upheld the acquittal of Shahbaz Hussain.

The court termed the case as a classic example of institutional failure resulting in erroneous/flown/shoddy investigation.

Recently, the state government had also filed an SLP in the Supreme Court.
