West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Locket Chatterjee broke down while recollecting the alleged incident of sexual harassment of a party candidate during panchayat elections in West Bengal’s Howrah district and said that the state is not out of the country. The party has alleged that Trinamool Congress workers were behind the July 8 incident.
Rough translation: “We are women too. We also want our daughters to be saved… We are also daughters of India. West Bengal is not outside the country, it is a part of the country. Yesterday PM Modi spoke on the incidents of attacks against women in Manipur. She spoke not only for the daughters of Manipur but for the daughters of the entire country. He said that law and order should be made strict in all the states for the safety of our daughters. Not only the daughters of Manipur but the daughters of the whole country. That’s why I urge all of you to speak up for us too. Where will our daughters go for justice?”
However, West Bengal DGP Manoj Malviya said that the police investigated the incident but found no evidence of the alleged incident.
