Actress Celina Jaitley has opened up about losing a baby during her second twin pregnancy five years ago. The actress, who is married to Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag, became a mother of twins in March 2012. In 2017, Jaitley gave birth to a second set of twin boys, one of whom died due to a heart defect.
On Thursday, Celina Jaitley wrote a long note on her Instagram handle and narrated what had happened to her. She noted that she “finally got up the courage to talk about her ordeal” and revealed that it was a “very difficult” time for her and her husband.
“The outcome of our second spontaneous #twin pregnancy was bitter-sweet as baby Shamsher died due to heart disease. (I went into labor at 32 weeks due to my father’s sudden demise.) “The NICU was a strange and difficult environment. In our experience, accepting that there will be good days and bad days will help you feel less surprised and anxious when challenging days arrive. While there was no option for everyone, Peter and I went to the same hospital in Dubai for a few months after #nicu because we were extremely worried about Arthur due to Shamsher’s death and the desperation, intense sadness, panic, There were feelings of hopelessness, guilt, anger. Love overwhelmed us too,” said the actress.
In her note, Celina also tried to inspire those who are going through the loss of a premature baby and shared, “In times like these it is very important to remember that you as an individual are a team. You can be more effective as parents, so keep an eye on your teamwork as parents. Talking, singing softly to your premature baby in the NICU is a great way to bond and feel close, even when you can’t hold him. Remember improbable possibilities set the stage for incredible miracles. Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it.”
