China’s petrochemical plant shut down after deadly explosion – Times of India

The explosion occurred at 3:13 a.m. (0713 GMT) on Sunday panjin haoe Chinese state television reported earlier on Monday that workers were carrying out maintenance work at the alkylation facility.
Panjin hey is an independent refinery and chemical producer in Panjin City, Liaoning Province in northeast China.

Xu Pengan analyst with consulting JLC Which closely tracks the output of independent refineries, estimated that Hao was processing 62.5% of its crude refining capacity of 130,000 barrels per day (bpd) by 2022.
The plant processed 460,000 tonnes of crude, or roughly 110,000 bpd, in December, according to another trade source based in China.
JLC’s Xu and several business sources speculated that the site could be closed for months.
Calls to Panting Hao for comment went unanswered.
A year ago, Panjin Haoye was one of three independent refineries named by the Liaoning provincial government for evading fuel taxes amid a sweeping national crackdown on consolidating its massive refining sector.
