Residents of Sri Sarvamangala Nagar, Chitlapakkam and representatives of various organizations participated in an awareness walk for the conservation of Sembakkam Lake on Saturday.

M. Ravi, secretary of the Sri Sarvamangala Nagar Residents Welfare Association, said that around 100 participants undertook a 4-km walk to highlight the need to expedite the reclamation work in the lakes.

Though the ₹25 crore project is being implemented, no proper inlet channels have been made to bring rainwater from the catchment areas. He said that a proper link has to be collected to transfer the surplus water from Chitlapakkam to Sembakkam lake.
