Crowd of women devotees thronged Siddharoodha Math. Hubli News – Times of India

Hubli: century old Mr. Siddrudha Math getting here many female devotees from the neighboring districts of northern Karnataka. The Shakti scheme launched by the Congress government in the state has resulted in an increase in the number of women devotees at the temple.
The monastic sources said that on normal days Idiot Earlier 3,000-3,500 devotees used to come, which has increased to 7,000-7,500. The number has gone up to 19,000 to 20,000 during Amavasya and other special days, from 10,000-12,000 earlier.
Math manager Iranna Tuppad said that nowadays the number of devotees is increasing a lot. After the launch of Shakti Yojana, many women are visiting the Math from all over the state, but mainly from North Karnataka.
There has been a huge increase in the number of devotees as women from Davangere, Haveri, Gadag, Belagavi and other districts are coming to the Math in teams. “To maintain the record number of devotees visiting the Math and visiting the Prasad Nilaya, the management has decided to install cameras to count the number of pilgrims. At present, cameras have been installed at the entrance of Prasad Nilaya, and soon similar cameras will be installed at the Math as well,” he said.
“The number of pilgrims is being counted to ensure the quantity of rice to be cooked and served in the Prasad Nilaya. Through this, we have analyzed that apart from normal days, the number of devotees has almost doubled on special days. By counting the number of devotees, we use one quintal of rice for every 1,000 people,” said Tuppad.
Renukavva Bhajantri, 55, of Saundatti in Belagavi district, said she was part of a group of 23 women who had come to Hubli to visit Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji on Amavasya. “We had planned our tour a week in advance, and decided to stay back in Hubballi to visit the Siddharudha Math on Amavasya, which was also on Monday. We came directly to Hubballi in the morning by a government bus, and reached the Math by city bus without spending a single penny,” she said.
