Elon Musk says WhatsApp can’t be trusted after alleged microphone usage claim

New Delhi: Tech billionaire Elon Musk has raised concerns over the trust and authenticity of communication app WhatsApp. He shared a tweet by Phod Dabiri, who allegedly claimed that the app was using his microphone in the background while he was sleeping.

“WhatsApp is using the microphone in the background while I was asleep and since I woke up at 6am (and it’s a part of the timeline!) What’s going on?” Dabiri wrote in a tweet and shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp microphone usage timeline, which shows when and for how long the app was using the microphone.

In response to the user, Musk said, “Whatsapp cannot be trusted.”

Indian users across the country are complaining of receiving calls randomly from unknown international numbers, trying to defraud them. As per reports, these calls, both audio and video, are coming from countries like Malaysia, Kenya, Vietnam, Ethiopia etc.
