The funeral will take place on Monday (May 15) at 3 pm at St. Joseph’s Church, Thottakkara, Ottapalam.
Lal Jose, who entered the entertainment industry in the late 1980s, has now emerged as a household name for Malayalam film lovers. He started his career with the assistance of ace filmmaker Kamal. In 1998, his first independent film as a director – ‘Oru Maravathoor Kanavu’ was released. Written by Srinivasan, the film starred Mammootty, Biju Menon, Mohini, Divya Unni, Srinivasan, Kalabhavan Mani, Sukumari and Nedumudi Venu in lead roles. ‘Oru Maravathoor Kanavu’ caught the attention of the people and was also a blockbuster. After the success of Mammootty starrer, he directed ‘Chandranudikkunna Dikkil’ which was also loved by the audience. It was the 2002 release ‘Misa Madhavan’, starring Dileep, Jagathy Sreekumar and Kavya Madhavan, that made Lal Jose a popular name in the industry. He later gave award winning films like ‘Achanurangatha Veedu’, ‘Classmates’, and ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’.
On the work front, Lal Jose’s latest release was ‘Solamante Thenichkal’.
