New Delhi: A 60-year-old man, who worked as a delivery executive in a food delivery app, has been arrested for sending obscene material. obscene messages to women Those who earlier used to place orders on the application and pay online. The accused has been identified as Ram Chander Shukla, a resident of Gokulpuri.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Hemant Tiwari said that a woman lodged a complaint with the police alleging that someone was sending her obscene messages on WhatsApp, Telegram and e-mail accounts. The woman told that the accused also knew her name and place of residence.
During investigation, it was found that the e-mail ID used by the accused was linked to a mobile number which was registered in the name of Ram Chander Shukla. He was given notice. The accused, Shukla disclosed that he used to work with Swiggy as a food delivery boy. Earlier, he was an autorickshaw driver. He said that he had collected mobile numbers of female customers who used their cellphones to order autorickshaws. -Used to book rickshaws or pay through online payment methods,” Tiwari said.
Further investigation is on and other victims are being identified.
A Swiggy spokesperson said, “We are aware of this unfortunate incident and have suspended the delivery executive. Swiggy has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of inappropriate conduct and will extend full cooperation to the investigating authorities.
