With the stage set for election results on May 13, the outcome will determine the governance and ideology for the state, as the battle between the Congress and the BJP continues to grip the nation.
As Karnataka goes to polls today, the state is abuzz with political excitement as leaders of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engage in a war of words and make bold predictions about the outcome of the election.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa expressed confidence of his party’s victory and urged people to vote early. He announced that a majority of voters would support the BJP, with the party poised to win 130-135 seats. Yeddyurappa’s claim reflected the party’s determination to secure a substantial mandate.
The election campaign took a sharp turn when the Bajrang Dal-Bajrang Bali controversy became a bone of contention. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized the Congress for using Lord Hanuman’s name during elections, calling it an “example of stupidity”. Sitharaman emphasized the BJP’s age-old devotion to Hanuman and condemned the politicization of religious sentiments.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai also expressed confidence in his party’s prospects, with Bommai predicting a landslide victory, assuring the people of Karnataka that the BJP would secure a comfortable majority. He highlighted the importance of positive development and resolved to take the state on the path of progress.

Amid the political battle, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to Hindu identity and Hindutva ideology. The Lingayat community, an influential group in Karnataka, was seen as a strong support base for the BJP.
