The results of the Karnataka elections are clear to a large extent. After Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has also suffered a major setback in Karnataka. Within the last one year, this is the second state whose power was wrested from the hands of the BJP by the Congress. A big political meaning is being extracted from it. It is a matter of great concern especially for the BJP.

This year, after Karnataka, elections are due in five other states. These include Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Telangana. Apart from this, Lok Sabha elections are to be held in the next year i.e. 2024. After this elections are to be held in seven states. In all, elections to the Lok Sabha as well as 13 major states are to be held in the next two years. There are many southern states in these as well. That’s why Karnataka’s defeat is being considered as a big blow for the BJP. At the same time, it proved to be a lifeline for the beleaguered Congress.
