As the Congress looks to score big in the Karnataka elections, senior leader Siddaramaiah expressed confidence that the party would cross the 130-mark. He credited the victory to the people of Karnataka, who demanded a change because of their dissatisfaction with the BJP government in the state.

Asked who would be the chief ministerial face, Siddaramaiah said the decision rests with the elected MLAs and the party high command.

Siddaramaiah said, “Despite the BJP’s heavy expenditure on ‘Operation Kamala’, Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra also played an important role in motivating our party workers.”

The Congress leader further said that the support of Lingayats, Vokkaligas and Brahmins, who see the Congress as a secular party, contributed to its success.

Reacting to the assembly election results, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar turned emotional on Saturday and credited the Gandhi family for reposing faith in his leadership in the state.

He also said that he has told the party high command that he will ensure the party’s victory in the Karnataka assembly elections.
