Put: A Pune Crime Branch Team Police on Tuesday detained a 24-year-old pressing machine operator from a manufacturing unit at Mahad in Maharashtra’s Raigad district for threatening to kill him by calling up the personal assistant (PA) of state minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday night.

Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal took oath as a minister in the Shinde cabinet at Raj Bhavan on Sunday.

Police have identified the accused as Prashant Patil, a resident of Chandgarh in Kolhapur district.
Patil claimed in the call to the minister’s PA that he had taken a “supari” (contract) to eliminate the NCP leader.
Bhujbal, who was among the nine Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders inducted into the Shinde-Fadnavis government on July 2, was in the city on Monday.
His PA Santosh Gaikwad (41), who lives in Worli, Mumbai, lodged a complaint Threat Call the Koregaon Park police.

“We are bringing him here and will interrogate him about the motive behind the call and how he obtained the PA number of the minister. He has passed his HSC examination, said a senior police officer.
