Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar is confident that he will not have to fight against BJP’s R Ashoka in Kanakapura. “Every house in the constituency has a Shivkumar and he will contest for me,” he says
In an exclusive interview to News18, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar said that PM Narendra Modi Will not be able to make any difference in a progressive state like Karnataka, stating how he could “save neither the party nor their leaders”.
Shivakumar is confident that he will not have to fight against R Ashoka in Kanakapura. “Every house in the constituency has a Shivakumar and he will contest for me,” he said.

Whoever believes in the ideology of the Congress will join the party. The double engine government has failed. Karnataka cannot be run by PM Modi or Amit Shah. It is about local issues. Double engine and Karnataka government has failed. Karnataka is a progressive state and the image of the state needs to be maintained. Atal Bihari Vajpayee once said that Karnataka attracts world leaders. We need to maintain it and protect the state. For development, we have to root out corruption and help people on issues like inflation. We have come out with promises and four guarantees. We are coming with a manifesto.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) says it will contest the elections on the issue of development and PM Modi. What about Congress? Apart from your four promises, will you start Operation Hast?
They (BJP) could not fulfill their promises. Modi could not save his party, his leaders or his legacy. He couldn’t do that. it will pass. He can’t work his magic here.
BJP says if Modi comes, will Modi’s tsunami come and change everything for the party…
Let them come here everyday and sleep. The weather is good in Karnataka, even the political weather is good. let them come here…
You are fighting against R Ashok of BJP. How do you view the competition?
I wish him all the best. I am not fighting in Kanakapura, I am not a candidate for Kanakapura. There is DK Shivkumar in every house. The name is a part of every household. They will contest elections.
