Maharashtra: BJP workers protest against Thackeray over his tainted remark on Fadnavis – News18

Addressing the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Nagpur on Monday, Thackeray had said Fadnavis’ alliance with the NCP was a blot on Nagpur, while he said he would never do so.

Bharatiya Janata Party workers protested against Uddhav Thackeray here on Tuesday over his objectionable remarks made to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and demanded that the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief withdraw his remarks.

BJP workers demonstrated at Variety Square in the morning where they raised slogans against Thackeray. BJP’s Nagpur chief Praveen Datke said Thackeray had not only insulted their senior leader Fadnavis, but also the people of the city.

Playing an old audio clip of Fadnavis saying he would never join hands with the NCP, Thackeray said the BJP leader’s no means yes. Datke said Thackeray had done injustice to Vidarbha and Nagpur during his two-and-a-half-year tenure as the chief minister of Maharashtra. He also alleged that Thackeray indulged in corruption during the Covid pandemic and he has no right to call Fadnavis tainted.

Datke demanded that Thackeray withdraw his statement against Fadnavis. Meanwhile, workers of BJP’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha took out a mock funeral procession of Thackeray in Sitabuldi area.
