New logo of International Film Festival of Kerala unveiled with IV Sasi

Late veteran filmmaker Ivy Sasi is often remembered for raising issues of feminism and women’s empowerment in her film career spanning several decades. He was often referred to as a trailblazer and made a mark in Malayalam cinema from the 1970s to the 1990s. He passed away on October 24, 2017, but the International Film Festival of Kerala has decided to honor his legacy. At this time, a logo of the festival was launched, which honored Sasi. The logo was unveiled by Ranjith Balakrishnan, President, Kerala State Film Academy. Ranjeet handed over the logo to producer AV Anoop.

Among these films, Avalude Ravukal is remembered for being the first Malayalam film to receive an A certification. Avalude Ravukal is about the journey of Raji, a sex worker in her teens who struggles hard to take care of her younger brother. Apart from talking about a lesser known subject, Avalude Ravukal was also instrumental in introducing actress Seema. Seema was one of the most popular actresses and eventually tied the knot with Sasi two years after the release of Avalude Ravukal.

Sasi has always been appreciated for paying attention to every aspect of the films and choosing the right actors for particular roles. He curated engrossing stories for the movies which have always been appreciated by the film lovers. He gave leading roles to actors like Vincent, Soman, Sukumaran, Ravikumar, Jayan and a young Kamal Haasan when Prem Nazir and Madhu were the biggest stalwarts.
