BALANGIR: Police are on the lookout for a woman sub-inspector (SI), who went missing from Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where she had been admitted after allegedly consuming poison on Wednesday night.
Four months back SI Kajal Bag was transferred from Town police station to Saintala police station in the district. Neighbours at Gopabandhunagar, where Kajal had taken a house on rent, said they heard her shouting over phone and threatening to kill herself. They called the police and when they arrived, they found Kajal had tried to kill herself by consuming mosquito repellent.
The incident comes days after a home guard, who was allegedly tortured by a DIG’s wife, tried to end her life, losing both her legs in the process.
Police rescued Kajal and took her to Saintala community health centre. Later in the night her condition worsened and she was shifted to Bhima Bhoi hospital.
Police suspect Kajal could have left with her family members, who stay in Bhawanipatna and had been informed about her suicide bid.
“The family members might have taken her with them. We are trying to find her whereabouts,” said a police officer.
