Opposition BJP MLAs from Odisha Assembly created ruckus in the House over Congress leader Ajay Kumar’s remarks against NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.
Kumar on Wednesday said the NDA’s Murmu represents a “very bad philosophy of India” and therefore should not be made a “symbol of tribals”.
There has been a sharp reaction to the development, especially from the BJP in Odisha, which has termed Kumar’s statements as completely condemnable. Speaking in this regard, Chief Whip of Opposition and BJP leader Mohan Manjhi said that the Congress leader’s statement is an insult to Odisha and exposes the anti-women, anti-tribal and anti-Dalit face of the Congress party. He said that the party should apologize to the people of Odisha and the tribals of the country.
Odisha BJP has sought unconditional apology Rahul Gandhi on thing. Manjhi said that condemning the reprehensible remarks of Congress leader Ajay Kumar, the Odisha BJP unit on Thursday staged a protest in the Odisha Assembly demanding the House to pass a slanderous resolution against the remarks.
Regarding this issue, BJP leaders and workers across the state are staging dharna at all district headquarters and targeting Congress.
Congress, on the other hand, has retaliated against the BJP for discussing issues that have nothing to do with the House. “We are proud that Draupadi Murmu being an Oriya girl is stepping up to become the President” India But the way BJP is using his name to politicize the matter is unfortunate.
Meanwhile, senior BJD leader Devi Mishra also condemned the statements of Congress leader Ajay Kumar, but urged both the BJP and the Congress to cooperate for a peaceful atmosphere in the proceedings of the Assembly.
