Bogota Colombia:
Five politicians and a pilot were killed in a small plane crash in central Colombia on Wednesday, officials said.
All five were members of former President Alvaro Uribe’s right-wing Centro Democratico.
They were in a plane that crashed in the municipal area of San Luis de Geceno in the Boyaca department, according to the Civil Aviation Authority, which is investigating the cause.
The party mourned the “tragedy” on Twitter, which claimed the lives of members including former senator Nohora Tovar, departmental legislator Dimas Barrero, aspiring governor Eliodoro Álvarez and Villavicencio municipal councilor Óscar Rodríguez.
According to local media, the plane was flying from Villavicencio to Bogota for a party event.
Leftist President Gustavo Petro expressed his condolences on his Twitter account.
