Bengaluru: On the eve of the conclusion of the high-octane campaign for karnataka assembly electionsCongress leader Rahul Gandhi hopped on the back seat of a scooter with a delivery boy, engaging in conversation on important issues like minimum wages and corruption.

He discussed the far-reaching implications of the corruption-ridden ‘40% commission government’ associated with the BJP and the Congress party’s commitment to its five guarantees.

The Congress leader interacted candidly with gig workers and delivery partners of Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit etc at the city’s prestigious Airlines Hotel.

Over a cup of coffee and masala dosa, they discussed the lives of delivery workers, the lack of stable employment and the rising prices of basic commodities.
The reasons why these youth took up gig jobs and the terms of their employment were also things that he heard.
There are 2,00,000+ people doing gig jobs in Bengaluru alone. The Congress party has made specific promises to them in its manifesto, mainly:
1. Setting up of Gig Workers Welfare Board with a corpus of Rs 3,000 crore
2. Ensuring minimum hourly wages for gig workers and other workers in the unorganized sector
