Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly violated security norms by traveling in an unknown truck without informing the state police.
According to his party, Rahul Gandhi traveled in a truck from Delhi to Chandigarh to listen to the problems of truck drivers. Vij said, “Rahul Gandhi traveled in an unknown truck without informing the Haryana Police, which is a major violation of security norms.”
According to a statement, Vij said that if Gandhi wanted to undertake a “truck journey”, he should have informed the state authorities.
The MLA from Ambala Cantonment and senior BJP leader further said, “I would have sent a truck from here with proper security, in which he could move around as much as he wanted.”
Gandhi traveled on Monday night and in visuals and videos, the former Congress chief, dressed in his trademark white T-shirt, is seen sitting inside a truck, traveling with a driver and talking to drivers at a dhaba.
“Leader of the people @RahulGandhi ji reached among the truck drivers to know their problems. Rahul ji traveled with him from Delhi to Chandigarh,” the Congress said in a tweet in Hindi.
Gandhi also stopped near a gurdwara in Ambala city on the Ambala-Chandigarh National Highway on Tuesday morning and offered prayers there. PTI Sun VSD RDT
