Delivering food items by helicopter to remote areas of Kullu district
So far, Himachal Pradesh has received 132 percent more rainfall than normal. This is causing a lot of destruction in the state. During the last 24 hours too, heavy rains wreaked havoc. Two people died after being swept away in flash floods in Chamba and Kullu districts.
57-year-old Vyas Dev, a resident of Gothra village of Kathet Panchayat, died after a person was swept away while crossing Lohali Khad in Bhatiyat area of Chamba. At the same time, 50-year-old Kancha Bahadur of Nepali origin was also swept away in the strong current of water in Taladi Khad of Banjar in Kullu. After heavy rains in Chamba, more than 70 private and government buses got stuck in the landslide.
There is no hope of respite from rain in the state for the next five-six days. The Meteorological Center Shimla has given a yellow alert for heavy rains till July 23 in the plains and medium altitude areas of the state. During this, incidents like heavy rain or cloudburst may also occur in some areas.
In view of this, the state government has given advisory to the public not to go to overflowing rivers and drains and landslide areas. The weather will remain bad in the state till July 25.
Food items delivered by helicopter
Food items were airlifted to remote areas of Kullu district, the most disaster-hit of the state, as the road connectivity in the remote Gadparli panchayat of Banjar sub-division was completely cut off today.

theog school closed
In view of the rain alert and the condition of the roads, all government and private schools in Theog, Kumarsain, Jubbal and Kotkhai sub-divisions have been closed till July 22. The state government has authorized all SDMs to fix holidays.
735 roads closed, more than 780 forms stalled
After last week’s heavy rains in the state, 735 roads have remained closed for 10 days. Due to this, bus services on more than 780 routes have come to a standstill for a week. The movement of people is being badly affected. Due to the closure of the connectivity routes of rural areas, it is also having a bad effect on apple transportation.
4808 crore property destroyed
Government and private property worth more than Rs 4808 crore has been destroyed in the state due to heavy rains. 1440 crores of Jal Shakti Department alone, 1521 crores of Public Works Department and 1451 crores of Electricity Board’s property has been wasted.
138 people lost their lives
During the current monsoon season, 138 people have lost their lives in the state. Of these, 38 people lost their lives due to landslides and flash floods. 12 people are still missing.
