Rani Mukerji’s ‘Shrimati Chatterjee Vs Norway’ was slated to hit the theaters on March 17, 2023. Helmed by Ashima Chibber, it also stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta and Jim Sarbh. The legal-drama received critical acclaim, and saw Rani deliver one of her best performances till date. The film is now all set to win hearts on OTT.
On Friday, May 12, the film premiered on Netflix and the streaming giant made an announcement about it on Instagram. The caption read, “A fearless mother, her undying love for her children and a relentless fight. Watch Rani Mukherjee wow the world in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, now streaming on Netflix. #MrsChatterjeeVsNorway.”
Meanwhile, the film did well at the domestic box office but had the biggest ever opening for a Hindi film in Norway. According to Box Office India, “Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway has taken the biggest opening ever for a Hindi film in Norway having a local setting. The previous record was Raees but that was set in five days as against three days The record was held by Bajrangi Bhaijaan who was comfortably beaten by Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway.”
BOI said, “The film has also outperformed Pathan in Norway and it has scored a decent $600k in overseas markets, which is more than the high and it will surely be looking to do better than that film in the long run. “

Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway is based on true events, it tells the story of an Indian mother who battles the Norwegian government for custody of her children. Rani packs a punch as a heartbroken mother who battles a nation to regain custody of her children. Her character is inspired by Sagarika Bhattacharya.
