RSS survey termed homosexuality as a disease: LGBTQ activists said – it is dangerous and misleading

The doctors involved in the survey believe that homosexuality is a disease and if same-sex marriage is given legal recognition, then this disease will spread further in the society.

LGBTQ rights activists have termed the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) body’s survey on same sex marriage as dangerous and misleading. Along with this, the organization has been accused of spreading false information. Actually, the community trust attached to the women’s wing of RSS has conducted a survey regarding same sex marriage.

The doctors involved in this survey believe that homosexuality is a disease and if same-sex marriage is given legal recognition, then this disease will spread further in the society.

Demand to cancel the license of the doctors involved in the survey
LGBTQ rights activists say such studies are dangerous for society. It is against basic dignity and amounts to defamation. The license of the doctors involved in this survey should be cancelled.

Writer and civil rights activist Sharif D Rangnekar said both the Yoga Institute and the Indian Psychiatric Society have accepted that homosexuality is normal.

Mention of homosexuality in Puranas as well
At the same time, activist Harish Iyer said that psychiatric bodies around the world, including India, have accepted that homosexuality is beyond any doubt. Iyer also appealed to the government to raise awareness on the issue. He said that after the Supreme Court’s decision on 377, it is the responsibility of the government to make people aware about it.

On the other hand, CPI (M) leader Subhashini Ali has also tweeted that the survey is foolish, unscientific and inhuman. This survey is based on the responses of 318 people. It includes practitioners of eight different methods of treatment ranging from modern science to Ayurveda. 70% of the doctors involved in the survey have described homosexuality as a disease.

Let us tell you that hearing is going on in the Supreme Court on 20 petitions demanding legal recognition of same sex marriage. On May 3, seven days hearing has been held in the case. Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the Center is ready to form a committee to find a solution to the problems of same sex couples.

Mehta said that this committee will not enter into the issue of giving legal recognition to the marriage of these couples.
