The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a picture of the Bollywood superstar on social media Shahrukh Khan With the ODI World Cup trophy. The caption with the picture read- “King Khan #CWC23 Trophy it’s almost here…”. The picture shows Shah Rukh Khan gazing at the World Cup trophy like millions of Indian cricket fans and even players who have laid eyes on the biggest prize of the game. The fact that the mega-kumbh of cricket will be staged on familiar home surfaces this year will give Indians hope of bringing home the coveted trophy for the third time after 1983 and 2011.
BCCI is all set to host the ICC tournament later this year as it has started the trophy tour only last month. India will begin their campaign against Australia on October 8 and arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face off in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Fans showered love
Shahrukh has often expressed his love for cricket and he also owns a cricket team in the Indian Premier League – Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, their picture has got the fans excited. A social media user commented, “Like SRK our team India can also make a comeback and win this world cup.” Another said, “King Khan be like this:- Itni shiddat hai tumhe chaha hai.” A third comment read, “Youngsters and the World Cup – too much entertainment,” wrote another netizen.
Shah Rukh’s picture shows that he has shot a special promo for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The opening match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, featuring defending champions England and runners-up New Zealand, is set to begin on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ten teams will participate in the biggest Cricket World Cup ever, which will be played across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the opening and final of the tournament. In this event, 48 matches will be played in 46 days.
Apart from Ahmedabad and Chennai the other places are Bengaluru, Delhi, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. While Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will join Hyderabad in hosting the practice games. Eight teams have qualified for the 46-day competition through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the last two spots will be taken by the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier to be held in Zimbabwe.
What else is in store for Shah Rukh Khan?
The Bollywood superstar who was last seen in Pathan will now be seen in Jawan. Backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Atlee while the Hindi dialogues are penned by Sumit Purohit. Talking about the film, Shah Rukh Khan said in a statement, “Jawaan is a universal story that transcends languages, geographies and is meant for all to enjoy. The credit goes to Atlee for making this unique film, which has also been a great experience.” Me because I love action movies! The teaser is just the tip of the iceberg and gives a glimpse of what’s to come.”
The film will hit the silver screens on September 7 this year in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu languages. It will also feature Nayanthara, Priyamani and will have a special appearance Deepika Padukone Too.
