irrepressible actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha Angered by the insensitive campaigns to malign the Hindi film industry.
“This is not a den of vice. Kuch toh troll kahenge, troll ka kaam hai kehna, Bollywood Not full of… what are you talking about, Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. I literally grew up in the Hindi film industry. And I can confirm this: It offers great opportunities to anyone who has the talent and is willing to work hard.”
He gives his own example. “Who would have thought that an invisible person like me from Bihar would get a chance? Great Manoj Kumar The hero of my first Hindi film was sergeant where my walk-on part was. Later I was one of the leads in Manoj Saab’s Kranti. Where can one take such a leap of faith in this film industry? asks Shatrughan Sinha.
Shatrughan Sinha rubbishes all allegations of Bollywood being a nepotism-driven industry. “What is wrong with the children of actors and filmmakers following the footsteps of their parents? The same happens in every profession. The children of industrialists instinctively gravitate towards the same job profile. In the end it is merit that matters, not your lineage. If you are not good, you will be fired. Many star kids with fabulous launch vehicles are slacking off.
The actor-politician is all praise for his daughter’s self-made career. “My daughter Sonakshi doesn’t get roles because she is Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter. I have never recommended him to any of my producer-director friends. He has achieved everything on his own. Today she is working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
