On May 11, the High Court had reserved order on Sisodia’s bail application in the CBI case.

Manish Sisodia has withdrawn the bail plea filed in the court on Wednesday in the CBI case related to Delhi Liquor Policy. He had sought interim bail for six weeks in the Delhi High Court citing his wife’s health. On May 11, the court had reserved the order on interim and regular bail. The High Court has not given its verdict yet, but Sisodia has withdrawn the bail application.

The former Deputy CM had requested the High Court to withdraw the petition. However, Sisodia’s counsel will continue the arguments on Friday. ED can also start its arguments on 29th May. During the hearing, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma said that the order on the main bail application in the CBI case has been reserved. The fact remains that the condition of the petitioner’s wife is stable. Now he does not want to present the interim bail application.

Sisodia accused of hiding facts in the application
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said that Sisodia’s application did not mention that the wife has been discharged from the hospital. He said that the petition is being withdrawn because of his contention regarding concealment of facts. However, the court has approved it considering the withdrawal of the petition regardless of the controversy.

Sisodia’s bail plea timeline in CBI case

  • On March 31, Special Judge MK Nagpal in Delhi Court rejected Sisodia’s bail plea in the CBI case.
  • On April 5 itself, Sisodia filed a bail application in the Delhi High Court seeking bail in the CBI case.
  • During the hearing on the bail plea on April 6, Justice Dinesh Sharma of the Delhi High Court sought the response of the CBI. Also, the hearing was listed for April 20.
  • On April 20, the hearing on Sisodia’s bail plea in the CBI case was adjourned till April 26. The CBI was to present its arguments on the next date.
  • On 26 April, the agency presented its arguments in the court. The court fixed the date of April 27 for the next hearing.
  • On 27 April the court hearing was adjourned till 28 April. At the same time, on 28th the hearing was adjourned till 3rd May.
  • On May 3, the court issued a notice to the CBI asking, Sisodia’s wife’s health is bad. What do you say.

Sisodia was arrested on 26 February
CBI is probing irregularities in liquor policy case. The agency arrested Sisodia on February 26 after eight hours of questioning. Since then he is in the agency’s custody. Earlier on March 31, the sessions court of Delhi had rejected his bail plea. Then Sisodia had approached the High Court for bail.
