Following the legacy of his father Sooraj Barjatya, Avneesh will make his directorial debut with Dono.
Thirty-three years ago, Salman Khan and Bhagyashree’s chemistry won the hearts of the audience in Rajshri Productions’ Maine Pyar Kiya. It is one of the most famous films in the filmography of both the actors. Actor Bhagyashree was also in this film Directed by Suraj R Barjatya debuted and made him a household name. On Thursday, the production house announced that its next film, titled Dono, will make the audience relive the charm of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. The film will be directed by Rajshree’s next generation director Avneesh S Barjatya.
The film will be produced in association with Jio Studios and will mark the directorial debut of director Avneesh. A statement from the makers read, “A debutant director’s promise to introduce two fresh faces in a fresh love story brings back nostalgic memories of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree’s debut film – Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which was directed by the then debutant director. Suraj R. Barjatya.
Avneesh has assisted his father Sooraj in directing films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Hum Chaar. He will be one of the producers of Prem Ki Shaadi, a film that will see Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya teaming up after a long time.
The teaser of the film will come on July 25. It is produced by Kamal Kumar Barjatya, late Rajkumar Barjatya, Ajit Kumar Barjatya and Jyoti Deshpande. Sooraj R Barjatya will head the creative production of the film. The film is scheduled to release in Diwali 2024.
Meanwhile, the production house known for making family-entertainer romances completes its 75th year this year. “Marking its 75th year in the Hindi film industry, Rajshree Productions (P) Ltd takes forward its legacy of wholesome family entertainment and brings back romance in its purest form by announcing its 59th film, a love story titled – Dono,” read the statement. Added.
Rajshri’s last film, Uunchai, featured actors Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
