Actor-singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy recently opened up about her 12-year-long marriage to filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. The couple married in 1999 and divorced in 2007. In 2010, he came into limelight in connection with a property dispute. In a recent interview, Krishnamurthy spoke openly about her personal life and ex-husband Shekhar Kapur.
In a chat show hosted by Siddharth Kanan, the actor accused Kapoor of cheating on him. However, it also said that marriages do not break because of infidelity. She further added that Kapoor wanted her to quit acting but it was not a big deal for her as she is from a non-filmy background.
Talking about how she got into acting, Krishnamurthy revealed that she started getting film offers right from her school and college days and it was during her college days that she decided to act in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. did. Shahrukh Khan, She further added that Kapoor was clear about her not acting and at that time she was too naive to understand what it meant.
Krishnamurthy also revealed that his parents did not agree to his marriage. Talking about the age gap, she said that Kapoor was her mother’s age at that time and he was a divorcee from the film industry. He further revealed that his mother sat at his feet and begged him not to marry her. However, she was determined to marry the filmmaker. Talking about the troubles in his marriage, he revealed that the cracks started in his first year when he decided to walk out of the marriage after receiving a partial scholarship to Berklee College of Music. However, she became pregnant and had to stay for a few years.
