COIMBATORE: A 30-year-old goods autorickshaw driver was arrested on Wednesday evening for allegedly stabbing his wife to death after she refused to end their extramarital affair.
Sulur Police The arrested person has been identified as V Ganesan, a native of Arasamalai near Ponnamaravathi in Pudukkottai district. He was living in a rented house in nearby Pallapalayam Spread Along with his wife Nivetha, 24, and two children.
An investigating officer said Nivetha, who worked in a textile mill, had an illicit relationship with her colleague Murugan. “When Ganesan came to know about the relationship, he advised her to end it. However, she continued her affair with Murugan.”
On Wednesday afternoon, Ganesan asked his wife about continuing her relationship with the colleague and assaulted her, the officer said. “In a fit of rage, he took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her twice on the neck. Nivetha died on the spot.
The neighbors informed the Sulur police, who sent the body to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital at Varadharajapuram near Singanallur for postmortem.
