Following this, a rumor spread in the city that around 17 inmates of the Children Welfare Society – an NGO were allegedly affected by Covid. Even the medical staff of King George Hospital were on their toes after knowing the news.
Initially, the medical staff announced that the youth and the girl were affected by Covid as the results of the rapid test conducted by the local health worker turned out to be Covid positive. But doctors at King George’s Hospital (KGH) conducted their RTPCR test, in which both came out negative.
The NGO Home – Love and Care Children Welfare Society in Maripalem area has 17 orphaned inmates. Most of them are suffering from various health ailments. The youth was bedridden since 2015 and was admitted to KGH on Monday with high fever.
He died in the early hours of Tuesday. Later the medical staff conducted the Covid test of all the prisoners. Of these, a 17-year-old girl has been found positive. He was admitted to the isolation ward. But the RTPCR test report on Wednesday was negative, said KGH superintendent Dr Ashok Kumar.
