On the day of the release of ‘The Kerala Story’ in Coimbatore, several Muslim organizations protested against the film.
Controversy continues in the country regarding the film ‘The Kerala Story’. Meanwhile, the screening of the film has been banned in Tamil Nadu. Theaters owners have decided to shelve the film citing law and order situation and poor response to the film.
The film ‘The Kerala Story’, directed by Sudipto Sen, released on 5 May. As soon as the trailer was released, the film got surrounded by controversies. The trailer claimed that 32,000 girls from the state had gone missing and later joined the terrorist group ISIS.
Threat to law and order film is threat: Multiplex association
The Tamil Nadu Multiplex Association said that there will be no screening of ‘The Kerala Story’ across the state from Sunday. The association said that the film could be a threat to law and order. He also claimed that the film is getting lukewarm response from the people.
As soon as the film was released, Islamic organizations protested against it. The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staged a sit-in protest against the screening of the film at a mall in Coimbatore. Meanwhile, he also had a scuffle with the police.

Petition in the High Court regarding the ban of the film
A petition was filed in the Kerala High Court regarding the ban of the film. Hearing this on Friday, the court refused to ban the release of the film. At the same time, the producer argued that this film is not the story of 32,000, but the story of 3 women.

What is the controversy related to Kerala Story?
,The Kerala Story’ is a film about a group of women from Kerala who join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The film was released on 5th May i.e. Friday. CBFC had asked for 14 cuts in the film before its release. Its trailer was released on 26 April. The 2 minute 45 second trailer shows how 3 college going girls join a terrorist organization.
