The Meteorological Department has predicted the formation of a cyclone in the southeast of the Bay of Bengal by May 9. IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that the cyclone is likely to move northwards towards the central Bay of Bengal.
Mohapatra said that on May 6, a low pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal. After this there are signs of starting to form a cyclone. Before the cyclone, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph in this area. The name of the cyclone will be Mocha. Yemen has named it after a port city in the Red Sea.
Glacier broke in Uttarakhand, pedestrian path closed towards Kedarnath
People trapped in the glacier in Kedarnath valley were rescued by SDRF.
Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir received snowfall along with rain at some places. In Uttarakhand, the road between Bhairav Gadera, Kuber Gadera has been temporarily closed due to the arrival of glacier on the footpath towards Kedarnath. People going to Char Dham Yatra including Badrinath have been asked to stay back.
