The park’s bizarre ‘no anti-clockwise walking’ warning sign is Peak Bengaluru

A sign board installed in one of the parks in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru for a bizarre ban is going viral on the internet. It is common for public parks to impose certain restrictions regarding the various functions that are allowed to be performed in the park. Things like plucking flowers, littering or damaging property are not allowed. A similar ban-laden board was recently spotted at a park in Bengaluru. The board, as indicated, has been set up by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). According to this, people are not allowed to jog or run in the park. The sign board seems normal until a third restriction reads, which says, “No clockwise walking.”

The picture of the board was shared on Reddit by a user who wrote in the caption, “Sign I saw in a park today.” to keep track:

With thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments, the post apparently struck a chord with netizens, who poured their reactions in abundance. Several users joined the discussion in the comments section with some hilarious questions.

A user asked, ‘Is Nagin dance allowed? To which one user replied, “Only if you turn it clockwise.” Another asked, “If they see me running, do they also run to stop me or stop?” Another asked, “Are moonwalks allowed?”

Many people were curious to know what exactly it means to walk counterclockwise and why it is not allowed.

Counterclockwise walking, in the context of parks and circular paths, is running in the opposite direction causing disturbances and accidental collisions along the way. It seems that this sign advises people to walk indirectly.

This is not the first time that Bengaluru has become a topic of discussion due to its signboard. Recently, pictures of no parking signs installed outside homes in the city went viral.
