NOIDA: A 23-year-old student was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly trying to run over a man after a brawl near Parthala intersection. Police said the incident took place when one car rammed another car, which led to a heated argument in the middle of the road. The student allegedly assaulted the other driver and then tried to run him over.
In a video of the incident widely circulated on social media, the accused can be seen driving slowly through traffic and a man hanging onto the bonnet of his white Brezza.
The accused has been identified Arjun YadavThe student, a resident of Parthala, is pursuing BA from a private college in Noida. On Wednesday night at around 10 pm, he rammed into Parvesh Kashyap’s car near Parthala Gol Chakkar in Sector 70.
In his police complaint lodged at Phase 3 police station, Kashyap said, “I was driving in my WagonR towards my home, Charmurthy, when a Brezza came on the road speeding and recklessly and hit my car from behind ”
He also mentioned the registration number of Brezza as UCE8208.
DCP (Central) Anil Kumar Yadav said, “Yadav got out of the car and started fighting with the complainant. They made him sit on the bonnet of their SUV and thrashed him. Then, he tried to drive away, but Kashyap blocked his way.” So, he started driving with Kashyap hanging on the bonnet.”
Police said the student dragged him for about 20-30 metres, but eventually Kashyap managed to escape by jumping.
Based on the complaint, the youth was apprehended and a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC.
