NOIDA: The residents of Techzone 4 in Greater Noida have been perturbed by broken road for the past year.
Nearly 4,000 families live in nearly half a dozen highrises in the area, yet the road has been lying in a dilapidated state. During monsoons, the main road and the service road become prone to accidents as it becomes difficult to find the potholes amid the waterlogging.
“It’s been more than a year now, but the road has not been repaired. Parents are forced to take their children to nearby schools through this pothole-riddled road. This can lead to accidents. Earlier, I also tweeted the matter to GNIDA ACEOs Medha Roopam and Amandeep Duli,” said Vikash Katiyar, the general secretary of the New ERA Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA).
The road also lacks a footpath, which makes it even more dangerous for pedestrians. “There is no footpath on the stretch, and due to the recent showers, mud and sludge have accumulated on the roadsides. Children studying in nearby schools are finding it difficult to walk through the stretch,” added Katiyar. Though the road is being widened, the lack of an alternate route is forcing the residents to currently ply through the broken stretch.
“We tried to get redress on the issue, but were told that the road extension work has been underway for the past 10 days. Going by the slow pace of work, it looks like it will take another 20–30 days before this road can be resurfaced,” stated the general secretary.
Meanwhile, GNIDA has assured the residents that they will take up the road repair work at the earliest. “Road widening work is under progress near Mayfair Residency in Techzone 4. After that work is over, we will undertake the road resurfacing job,” said Gaurav Baghel, manager at GNIDA.
