The app will feature hashtag and advanced topic-based search.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed that the team is developing a translation option to support different languages
Meta’s new social media platform Threads is reportedly working on introducing additional options. These upcoming features include an edit button, a following feed, and a translation option for different languages.
According to IANS, users of Threads will soon be able to edit their posts for free. Also, the following feed will display posts from accounts users choose to follow.
Additionally, Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed that the team is developing a translation option to support different languages. While the current version of the app only allows account search, a future update will enable users to search for specific posts. According to Mosseri, the company is also working on a web interface for Threads but the priority is mobile apps.
Responding to users’ queries, Mosseri mentioned plans for account switching and discussion about the introduction of a ‘Reactions’ button. However, he preferred to keep things simple in order to avoid complexity. The app will feature hashtag and advanced topic-based search.
While the ‘Trending Topics’ tab has been included in the list, Mosseri clarified that it requires careful consideration to balance interests, ensure localization and address abuse concerns.
Threads is a new app created by the Instagram team for sharing text updates and joining public conversations. You log in using your Instagram account and posts can be up to 500 characters long and can include links, photos and videos up to 5 minutes long.
According to the company, similar to Instagram, with Threads users can follow and connect with friends and creators who share their interests, including people they follow on Instagram. Also, users under 16 (or under 18 in some countries) will default to a private profile when they join the app. In threads, users have the ability to control who can mention or reply to them.
Similar to Instagram, users can add specific words to filter replies that contain those words to their threads. They can also unfollow, block, restrict or report a profile on Threads by tapping on the three-dot menu, and any account they block on Instagram will automatically be blocked on Threads.
