The Thalapuzha police on Wednesday arrested a tribal in connection with the death of his brother at Valad in the district.
He had allegedly beaten his younger brother to death on Tuesday night.
The police identified the arrested person as Ramakrishnan, 46, of Venganmattam tribal hamlet in Valad near Thalappuzha in the district.
The accused revealed during interrogation that his brother Jayachandran, 42, tried to attack his mother and ex-wife on Tuesday night in an inebriated condition.
Finally, Ramakrishnan allegedly struck his brother on the head and neck with a reed stick. Although Jayachandran was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Mananthawadi, he succumbed to his injuries.
Ramakrishnan was charged with various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
