Two more life guards to be deployed near Arippara Falls

Two more life guards will be deployed near Arippara Falls in Kozhikode district, where two school students drowned recently.

The decision was taken in a meeting held online at Kozhikode Collectorate on Wednesday. It included Linto Joseph, Thiruvambadi MLA, Kodenchery and Thiruvambadi gram panchayat presidents, District Collector A.K. Geeta and officials of the District Tourism Promotion Council participated.

According to sources, there are only two life guards in Arippara now. It was decided to increase their number in the meeting. The entry of people at tourist places will be restricted so that only those who can be handled by life guards are allowed to enter. This will prevent a large number of people from coming to the area.

DTPC officials said that they did not have much control over the entry to Pathankam Falls as people could approach the spot from various points in the surrounding forest areas. Notice boards will be put up at these places to make the visitors aware.
