Sunak and tech leaders – Sam Altman of OpenAI, Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind and Dario Amodei of Anthropic – discuss the risks of AI

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the owner of leading AI companies OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Anthropic will work together to ensure society benefits from transformative technology, he said in a statement after the meeting on Wednesday.

Sunak and tech leaders — Sam Altman of OpenAI, Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind and Dario Amodei of Anthropic — discussed the risks of AI, from disruption and national security to existential threats, according to the statement.

They also discussed safeguards, voluntary actions labs are considering to manage risks, and possible avenues for international cooperation on AI security and regulation.

Britain said in March it would split responsibility for controlling AI between its existing regulators for human rights, health and safety and competition, rather than creating a new body dedicated to the technology.
